DNA test delays claiming of Nur Farah Kartini's body

HULU SELANGOR: Police have collected DNA samples from the family members of murdered Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah to facilitate forensic identification.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that samples were taken from the victim's mother and siblings.

"We will be conducting a forensic identification of the victim as visual identification could not be done. The process will take several days, and only once it is completed, can the body be released to the family," he told reporters when met at the scene in Felda Gedangsa today.

Hussein said they would request for the process to be expedited.

Meanwhile, he said that police had taken statements from 26 individuals in connection with the case, including the victim's friends, colleagues of the suspect, and witnesses.

Police were at the scene to retrieve the victim's personal belongings.

A team, comprising crime scene investigators, divers, and K-9 units, managed to recover a mobile phone believed to belong to the victim.

The team will continue to search the area for other personal belongings and will also comb another area about 20 minutes away.
