KUALA LUMPUR: A handbag believed to have belonged to Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah was found in Sungai Trolak near Kampung Batu, in Perak, today.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the find when contacted.
"Yes. A lady's handbag which is believed to have belonged to the victim (was found)," he said.
The media had yesterday reported that operations to find the 25-year-old's belongings and other evidence had moved to another location some 20 minutes away from Kampug Sri Kledang in Hulu Selangor, where her body had been found in an oil palm plantation.
This was after a smartphone which was believed to be Nur Farah Kartini's was found in a ditch in the plantation earlier in the day.
Nur Farah Kartini's body was found about 6pm on Monday, several days after she was reported missing on July 12.
A police lance corporal based in a station in Perak who was detained earlier in the day had led investigators to the body.
The suspect is currently being held on a seven-day remand order until July 22.
Police have classified the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
