Three GOF members arrested in armed robbery

KUALA LUMPUR: Three General Operation Force (GOF) members have been nabbed in connection with an armed robbery of a house in Kampung Pasir, Semenyih.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the Kajang district police headquarters control centre first received information at 12.17am yesterday about a robbery at a house on Jalan Sungai Pening.

"Acting on information, a team from the Kajang district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department arrested two male suspects at 12.20am today at the GOF Battalion 19 in Cheras.

"They were aged between 32 and 35 while another male suspect aged 24, surrendered at 1pm at the Kajang district police headquarters," he said in a statement today.

Hussein said an investigation paper had been opened under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1971 (Increased Penalties).

"Two suspects have been remanded for seven days until Aug 7, while the third suspect will have a remand application submitted on Aug 2 for further investigation."

He also said the Selangor police would not protect any policemen found to be involved in criminal activities.

"Investigations will be carried out thoroughly without compromise," he added.

Earlier today, news regarding the robbery had been circulating on messaging platform Telegram.

It claimed that two suspects wearing police vests along with four others, armed with guns, had robbed a home in Kampung Pasir.

It also claimed that the suspects had also discharged their weapons when they were followed by a witness.
