PETALING JAYA: The fifth suspect in the Semenyih armed robbery case on July 31 has been identified.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan today advised the suspect to surrender himself.
"We have all of his details, including his identity card number and his address.
"This suspect is not a policeman, (he is) a civilian," he said at the Ara Damansara police station.
He said if the suspect did not surrender himself, police would release his identity to the media to help track him down.
When asked, Hussein said the suspect was a Malaysian and was believed to be in the country.
"We will apply for a remand extension on the four suspects, including the three police personnel.
"The current remand order expires today and tomorrow."
He added that police had also seized items connected to the robbery.
On Aug 2, it was reported that one more suspect had surrendered himself to Kajang police, bringing the total number of arrests to four.
The fourth suspect is a civilian.
Six armed robbers were reported to have broken into a house on Jalan Sungai Pening, Kampung Pasir, escaping with cash and jewellery.
The three other suspects arrested were police General Operation Force members.
They had allegedly fired shots when they noticed a witness tailing them after the robbery.
