Lorry driver who ploughed into house killing two siblings faces reckless driving charge

KUANTAN: Police have opened two investigation papers against the 40-year-old trailer driver who crashed his vehicle into a house, killing two siblings at Kampung Ketapang Hilir in Pekan on Aug 3.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman said the man is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving, and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with self-administration or consumption of dangerous drugs.

On Aug 4, the Pekan magistrate court granted a four-day remand against the lorry driver from Johor.

In the 4.15am incident, the trailer driver believed to be under the influence of drugs ploughed into the house, killing Nurnazatul Fasiha Nasruddin, 32, before her brother, Mohd Waldon Faris Nasruddin, 21, died several hours later at Pekan Hospital.

Their parents and Waldon Faris' 19-year-old male friend, who were also in the house at the time, were injured along with the lorry driver.
