MELAKA: A director and deputy director of a government department are among four people arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over a bribery probe.
According to sources, the case involves the approval of claims for government jobs worth RM176,000.
The claims were based on false information.
The director, 50, and deputy director, 49, were arrested at the Melaka MACC headquarters yesterday.
Two civilians, a 62-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, were also arrested after providing their statements to the graftbusters.
The three male suspects have been remanded until Tuesday, while the woman was remanded for a day.
When contacted, Melaka MACC director Adi Supian Shafie confirmed the arrests.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act for the use of documents containing false details with the intention to deceive.
