ALOR STAR: Police have clarified that the man featured in viral videos, who was seen intentionally dropping his bicycle and nearly causing a road accident in Taman Rakyat, is an autistic individual.
Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Salawati Saad said they responded swiftly after the videos were posted on Facebook around 4am today.
She said that investigations into the two videos, which are 9 and 14 seconds long respectively, revealed that the incident took place in Taman Rakyat at approximately 3pm on Friday.
"Through our investigation, we have identified the individual in the viral videos. He is a 24-year-old local resident, and further checks confirmed he is a person with autism," she said in a statement today.
Noor Salawati also said that police had summoned the man's family members to provide a statement.
"No reports have been filed by the public regarding the viral videos at this time. However, the police will take the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents that could endanger both the individual involved and other road users," she added.
