Security guard killed after car collided head-on with lorry [WATCH]

KLUANG: A school security guard was killed when the car he was travelling in collided head-on with a three-tonne lorry at Km102 of the Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing here yesterday.

Mohd Thaufik Mohd Sukiman, 35, was in his Proton Wira and negotiating a sharp bend while traveling from Kahang towards Mersing when the car collided with the lorry coming from the opposite direction.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the impact of the 3.30pm accident caused the car to spin out of control before it came to a stop by the left side of the road.

"The Proton Wira was reduced to a mangled wreckage, and the driver who was pinned to the seat was killed on the spot.

"The 44-year-old lorry driver was unharmed," he said.

Bahrin said both drivers had valid licenses. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.
