10 injured in head-on collision in Kluang

KLUANG: Ten people were injured, including four children, in a head-on collision at Batu 8, Kampung Gajah here this morning.

The 4.59am accident involved a seven-seater sports utility vehicle (SUV) with eight people and another car with two people.

The 31-year-old car driver, who was trapped in his seat, is reported to be in a critical condition, while his passenger, aged 42, sustained head injuries.

Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Nuzul Azroy Mohamad Yusof said the SUV's 41-year-old driver and his wife, 39, and their children aged between 5 and 7 (three boys and a girl) sustained minor injuries. However, two other passengers, both 65, fractured their arms.

The rescue operation concluded at 6.22am. All victims were sent to hospital.

The NST has reached out to Kluang district police chief Assistant Bahrin Mohd Noh who has yet to respond at press time.
