MUAR: The father of the 11-year-old girl who died in murder and arson in Kampung Paya Redan here, last Friday, said he does not want to visit the house and village where she was killed.
Nor Hasyim Tahir, 43, who now commutes from his workplace in Pagoh Jaya, here to Melaka every day, said if he returned to the village, he would be overcome with sadness.
"I don't want to go back there (Kampung Paya Redan) again because it is associated with so much sadness. I can't forget the incident that caused me to lose my only child.
"If I come home and see a child the same age as Noradriana, I will cry. Let me stay here (Melaka) and go back and forth to work every day.
"Right now, I am still shocked by the tragedy that also killed my in-laws (Mohamed Nor Mohamed Yassin and Ara Abd Hamid)," he said when contacted.
During the 1.30am incident last Friday, three members of a family died after being suspected of being killed before the house was set on fire.
The victims were identified as Mohamed Nor Mohamed Yassin, 82, his wife Ara Abd Hamid, 76, and their granddaughter Noradriana Nor Hasyim, 11.
Another victim, 14-year-old Norazmina Mohd Radhi, survived.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Noradriana had suffered a skull fracture, believed to have been caused by blows from a wooden object.
At the time of the incident, Nor Hasyim was in Kelantan delivering goods. He rushed home after receiving the sad news.
His daughter suffered serious injuries to the face and head and was confirmed dead at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, here.
The prime suspect in the case was remanded for seven days, starting today.
