Fireman's bag stolen at accident site

KOTA KINABALU: A fireman lost a bag containing valuable items, including identification documents and money, while assisting an accident victim in Manggatal town here last night.

The bag, which was left in the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle of the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department, was believed to have been stolen at the scene.

He only realised his belongings were missing when he returned to the vehicle after completing his task.

District operations officer Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Hanis Mokthar they received a call about the accident at 1030pm.

"Upon arriving at the scene, four EMRS personnel proceeded to assist one of two victims involved in the accident. The other had died.

"After the task was completed, the firemen returned to the EMRS van to head back to the station.

"One of the men noticed that his bag containing important documents, including identification card, cash, as well as house and car keys, was missing from the seat," he said today.

The fireman lodged a report at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters this morning.
