KAJANG: A man who allegedly berated and threatened a food delivery driver and damaged his vehicle was detained by police today.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Nazron Abd Yusof said police received a report from the driver at 2.30pm which claimed that an unknown man had berated and threatened him, as well as broke a mirror on his vehicle.
Acting on information from the public, they detained the 54-year-old male suspect who had two prior records in the district.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle helmet which was allegedly used in the assault.
The suspect has been remanded for four days until Aug 26 to aid in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which can lead to a minimum of one and maximum of five years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.
It is also being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which can lead to two years imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
