KUALA SELANGOR: Police are investigating a school teacher who allegedly slapped a Year Two pupil.
Deputy district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Ambia Nordin said police detected a viral social media post regarding an 8-year-old boy, who was slapped by a teacher during sports practice at a school here.
"At 11.16pm yesterday, the Kuala Selangor police were informed (of the incident), and the boy's mother lodged a report regarding it.
"As such, the police have opened an investigation under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt," he said.
According to the case facts, the incident occurred in the school field where the victim had just finished sports practice and was told to assemble according to classroom before going home.
The victim mistakenly joined the wrong classroom queue instead of his own next to it. While walking back to his correct queue, the teacher slapped him once with his right hand, using a backhanded motion.
When the victim's mother arrived to pick up her son, she noticed what appeared to be a slap mark on his right cheek.
The victim recounted the incident to her.
He received treatment at a hospital, where the doctor diagnosed a soft tissue injury.
