Anwar's ex-aide Yusoff Rawther arrives in court [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: The former research assistant of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Muhammed Yusoff Rawther, has arrived at the court complex here under heavy police security.

Yusoff, who was arrested last week after police allegedly found pistols and ganja in a car he was travelling in, is expected to be charged at a magistrate's court under the Arms Act and Dangerous Drugs Act.

He will be represented by lawyer Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali.

Yesterday, city police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed receiving a report regarding the arrest of a man in Bukit Kiara.

He said the man was arrested after police discovered two imitation pistols and a compressed block suspected to be cannabis inside his vehicle.

Rafique has said that Yusoff denied any connection to the pistols and drugs, claiming that the items were planted to frame him by individuals with personal vendettas.
