KUALA LUMPUR: A child was locked in a dog cage simply for wetting his pants.
The same child was also reportedly thrown to the floor, resulting in him needing five stitches on his head and three stitches in his mouth.
These were revelations made by a former employer, who is also the father of the child, of a company related to Islamic products, who had since become aware of the oppression by the company.
Harian Metro reported that the man, who only wanted to be known as Razif, said he found out about the company through his brother in 2009 and joined in 2010.
He explained that he was sent to a branch in Miri, Sarawak, in 2011, and was married to his first wife in 2012, and his second wife in 2019.
"The tragic incident involving my child occurred five years ago when he was five years old, which led me to start contemplating leaving this group.
"At that time, my son wet his pants, and as a punishment, he was locked inside a dog cage," he said.
Razif said several months after that incident, his son was thrown to the floor for wetting his pants, leaving him with stitches on his head and mouth.
"Since that case, I felt something was off and decided to leave the company.
"I had to be stationed wherever the company assigned me, including its business networks. However, in 2020, I returned to Peninsular Malaysia and resigned in October 2021."
He said initially, he was worried about leaving the company as his family was "very fanatical" about the company's teachings and was scared he could lose his wife and children.
"I was threatened by the company management and could not contact my wives and children until my first wife was told by the company to ask for fasakh (divorce). I also was not allowed to meet my children.
"Recently, I finally received a court order allowing me to visit after being unable to see my wife and children for three years because they had been hidden away."
