SHAH ALAM: A college student and his girlfriend, who are both from wealthy families, were arrested with drugs worth RM38,000 recently.
Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim today said police had conducted a raid on a condominium unit in Petaling Jaya on Sept 26.
"Police arrested a male suspect, 24, at the parking lot of the condominium and seized 20 packages suspected to be cannabis, weighing 2.12kg.
"The arrest led to the arrest of a female suspect, 19, at the same condominium.
"Police also seized two suitcases containing drugs suspected to be cannabis weighing 5.06kg and 3.18kg.
"The total value of the seizure is RM38,068, which can supply 20,320 users in a day.
"Police confiscated a Toyota GT86 vehicle worth RM200,000. The total value of the drugs and assets seized is RM238,068."
He said this at the Shah Alam police headquarters.
Iqbal said both suspects, who are studying in college, had no prior records, and their urine tests came back negative.
"The suspects have been renting the condominium unit for RM3,800 a month for the past year and used it to pack drugs.
"They were born abroad and came from wealthy families. However, their parents are unaware of their children's activities."
He said the suspects delivered the drugs obtained from Thailand to customers directly, but they used social media for communication.
"Drugs were sold for between RM50 and RM500 in the Klang Valley.
"The suspects obtained about RM300,000 per month."
Both have been remanded for seven days.
