'Stop circulating images, videos of student who fell 8 floors in school'

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have warned the public against circulating images or videos of the student who fell from the eighth floor of a school in Jalan Syed Putra yesterday.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they were notified of the incident at 6.59pm on Oct 1.

"We received a distress call that a student had fallen from the school building there.

"We immediately sent personnel to the scene and investigations revealed the student was believed to have fallen from the eighth floor of the building and died at the scene.

"The victim was pronounced dead by a assistant medical officer at the scene," he said in a statement.

He said the victim's body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre forensics unit for post-mortem examination.

"Further investigations revealed no foul play and the case was classified as sudden death.

"We urge the public to refrain from speculating and to cease spreading the incident on social media," he said.

It was reported that a 13-year-old girl fell to her death from several floors of a school building yesterday evening.

The girl lived in the school hostel.

In a statement, the school said it was deeply saddened over her passing and extended condolences to her family, adding that authorities were alerted immediately after the incident.

The victim's sister has called on netizens to stop sharing the video online.
