SEPANG: Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly assaulted two men with a steering lock in a road rage incident earlier today.
Acting district police chief Superintendent Shan Gopal Krishnan said this followed a report lodged by one of the victims at 12.17pm.
He said, in the report, the victim claimed that he and his friend were beaten up by a man who used a steering lock in an incident that occurred about 11.50am on a road in Dengkil.
"The incident was recorded by a member of the public and had gone viral on social media," he said in a statement.
The victims, said Shan Gopal said the victims sustained injuries to their heads and hands as a result of the attack.
Acting on the report, police detained a student of a private institution of higher learning and seized from him the steering lock believed to have been used in the attack.
"The motive was dissatisfaction over something that occurred while both parties were driving in the Air Itam area heading towards Dengkil," said Shan Gopal.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
Anyone found guilty under the section is liable to a prison term of up to 10 years, a fine or whipping, or any of the two punishments.
