Police hunt for suspects in Molotov cocktail attack on Manjung home

MANJUNG: Perak police are actively searching for three suspects involved in throwing Molotov cocktails at a house in Taman Bintang, Pantai Remis.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman reported that police received a report on the incident at 9.36am yesterday.

"According to the report, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the victim's house, causing fire damage to a Honda HRV and a Yamaha LC motorcycle.

"Based on our investigation, the incident occurred at 3.08am yesterday involving a white Toyota Altis with an unknown registration number occupied by three masked suspects," he said in a statement today.

Hasbullah said that the suspects threw about nine Molotov cocktails at the house, igniting a fire in front of it.

"The victim's father noticed the incident, came outside, and shouted at the suspects, who then fled the scene.

"The father managed to extinguish the fire. Upon further inspection, five pieces of paper with Chinese writing were found outside the fence, demanding repayment of a debt.

"The victim denies any involvement with unlicensed money lending (loan sharks) or having any enemies," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.
