Police arrest 3 men for alleged Molotov cocktail attack in Bercham

IPOH: Police have arrested three men for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail into a house in Bercham.

Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said that police received a report on Tuesday at 9.17pm from a man who claimed that his house had been attacked with a Molotov cocktail.

Azizi said that the attack is believed to be related to 'Along' activities.

"Acting on a tip-off, police managed to arrest the trio, aged between 26 and 34, yesterday. A urine test conducted on them came back positive for methamphetamine.

"Further checks revealed that all of them had criminal records involving drug offences," he said in a statement today.

He added that they have been remanded for five days until Aug 12 to assist in the investigation under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire with the intent to cause damage.

"Following the arrests, police believe they have managed to solve several cases of arson in the district," he said.

Azizi also advised people to be cautious when applying for loans, especially from unlicensed or illegal money lenders.

"The police will remain focused on ensuring safety and public order are maintained.

"Any information related to crime can be forwarded to the District Control Centre at 05-2542222 or any nearby police station," he added.
