IPOH: Police successfully resolved at least 15 cases of vehicle theft in the Manjung district by arresting three members of a group known as the Dinesh Gang on Sept 27.
The three-member gang, which includes a woman, aged between 24 and 26 from Johor, is believed to have been actively stealing in the area since early last month.
Their modus operandi involved targeting residential neighbourhoods and stealing various valuable items from unlocked luxury vehicles.
Perak police chief Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said that the suspects were apprehended following a theft report from a victim in Taman Raja Muda Musa near Sitiawan.
"The victim discovered items missing from their Proton Persona car when preparing for work that day. The stolen items included a handbag containing a gold necklace, a gold bracelet, a tablet, and RM500 in cash, totaling a loss of RM11,000," he said at a press conference at the Perak Contingent Police Headquarters here, today.
He said that further investigations revealed that the suspects executed the theft in under three minutes at 1.45am before fleeing the scene.
"In less than a month, the suspects are believed to be involved in 15 similar cases, and all complainants have been called to identify the seized items.
"The investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor, and instructions for charges have been received under Section 379, Section 411, Section 414, Section 427, and Section 447 of the Penal Code," he added.
