GEORGE TOWN: A food stall operated by foreigners on a walkway in Farlim here was demolished yesterday by the Penang City Council (MBPP).
In a Facebook post, MBPP said that the stall was removed due to its illegal structure.
"Through intelligence and monitoring carried out by the council, it was found that the food stall was operated by foreigners. Checks at the site revealed that food waste and oil were being disposed of in the public drain, causing blockages," it said.
The demolition was part of an integrated operation involving MBPP's Licensing Department, Enforcement Department, Municipal Services Department, and Engineering Department, along with Tenaga Nasional Bhd and the Penang Water Supply Corporation. MBPP also cleaned the area and cleared the drain to ensure proper water flow.– BERNAMA
