Man killed mother to 'send' her to 'heaven,' says source [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A man arrested for punching his elderly mother to death before stuffing her in a freezer is believed to have done so due to a dispute over religious beliefs.

According to a source, the suspect, in his 50s, is believed to have killed his mother because he wanted her to "enter heaven".

It was reported yesterday that the suspect finally confessed to police that he murdered his mother in 2021.

Police then rushed to the suspect's house in Taman OUG, where they found the body of the victim in a freezer.

The woman, who had been punched to death, was wrapped in a towel and plastic sheets before her body was stuffed in the freezer.

It was learned that the suspect came clean to the police because he was running low on savings and suffering from a chronic illness.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed the incident. The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

A neighbour who spoke to the media yesterday said he had not seen the victim since the Movement Control Order during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said the victim had her own house but would come to visit her son as he lived alone and was unmarried.

The neighbour, who declined to be named, said he assumed that she had returned to her home.

Those with information on the case should contact the KL police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to their nearest police station.
