Thief injured during burglary dies in victim's house

KLUANG: A suspected thief died after injuring his hand during a burglary at a home on Jalan Laksamana Sunrise Park last night.

District deputy police chief Superintendent Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said the police were probing the suspect's cause of death during the break-in which happened around 7pm.

The deceased was one of four suspects, aged 29 to 48, who broke into the house.

Nik Mohd said police who were called to the scene after receiving a distress call found the suspect and two other accomplices who were arrested.

One suspect, identified as Mohamad Sahli Talib, 39, is still at large.

"The deceased suspect suffered an injury to a main vein, there was a lot of blood at the scene."

Nik Mohd said the suspect might have severed a main vein while trying to enter the home or attempting to flee the crime scene."

He said police are now hunting Sahli, whose last known address is Kampung Belukar Gunong, Bachok, Kelantan.

Sahli and the other suspects have criminal records, including for drug-related crimes.

The two suspects who were arrested tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being probed under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.
