Police use roller crusher to destroy seized gambling items

KAJANG: Police used a roller crusher machine to crush a massive stockpile of seized gambling machines, computers and bitcoin mining equipments worth over RM1.88 million, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said.

"Seized gambling-related items from "Op Dadu" included 1,504 slot machines, computers, laptops, mobile phones, and speakers valued at RM109,400," he told reporters at the Bandar Baru Bangi police station.

Naazron said other goods smashed included under 'Op Kontraban' were 572 cans of alcoholic beverages, 23,469 bottles of liquor, and 4,018 cartons of cigarettes of various brands, with a total value of RM908,700.

A roller crusher was driven over the seized items which were laid on the ground.

Present at the event to demonstrate law enforcement's commitment to eradicate crime was Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, Selangor Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) Chief Datuk Saiman Kasran and Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi.

Naazron said 713 bitcoin machines, 84 other electrical devices, 127 computers and laptops, 411 mobile phones, 13 ATM cards, and 173,065 compact discs valued at RM858,600 were also destroyed.

The smashed items relate to 313 police investigations between 2019 and 2024.
