PETALING JAYA: A car burst into flames after crashing into an LRT pillar along the Federal Highway here today.
The driver of the vehicle was burnt to death in the incident.
District deputy police chief Superintendent M. Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said they received a report about the incident at around 7.24am today.
"Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred at around 6.20am, when thecar skidded and hit the LRT pillar," he said.
He added that the car caught fire shortly after the crash.
"The driver was burnt to death at the scene.
"The body has been brought to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre forensic department.
"As of now, they have not been able to identify the body," he said, adding that police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
He urged anyone with information on the case, especially those with dashcam footage, to come forward immediately.
