RAUB: It took less than 24 hours for Raub police to arrest a suspect who robbed a 41-year-old man at knifepoint at Taman Impian Villa here, fleeing with RM1,000 on Dec 13.
The 46-year-old suspect was apprehended by the police at a housing settlement here yesterday, just hours after the victim filed a police report.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman said police received the report from the victim at about 9.40 am on Friday, in which the victim claimed he was robbed at his home
"The victim told policemen that a man entered his house and brandished a knife about 10am. The suspect forced the victim to surrender RM1,000.
"Fearing his safety, the victim handed the cash before he tried to attack the suspect. The victim suffered cuts on his left shoulder before the suspect fled the scene," he said in a statement yesterday.
Shahril said acting on information, a police team from the district Criminal Investigation Division arrested a man in the nearby housing settlement around noon yesterday.
"During questioning, the suspect admitted committing the robbery and stealing the RM1,000.
"He claimed to have committed three criminal offences on Dec 13.
"Investigations revealed the suspect has two criminal records for drug offences and committing mischief. He was tested positive for drugs," he said.
Shahril said the case was investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and the suspect had been remanded till Dec 20.
