TANAH MERAH: A 15-year-old youth and a Thai man were arrested for possession of nitrazepam, or Epam, pills worth about RM13,000 in an operation here yesterday.
The two were travelling in a car when they were stopped by General Operations Force policemen in Jalan Lalang Pepuyu.
Also seized from the two was a knife found inside a sling bag belonging to the Thai man, who was driving the vehicle.
GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abd Hamid said the youth and the 38-year-old foreigner were stopped at a roadblock by his men about 6.15pm.
"When inspecting the car, the GOF personnel discovered several packets of Epam pills and the knife inside the sling bag.
"The pills were believed to have been smuggled in from Thailand," he added.
In another case, GOF members detained a 32-year-old woman for possession of gunny sacks containing 250kg of smuggled rice in Tumpat on Wednesday.
Nik Ros Azhan said the woman was driving a car when arrested in Jalan Masjid Pengkalan Kubor about 7am.
