Man remanded for allegedly offering bribe to cop in human trafficking case

KOTA BARU: The Kelantan Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today obtained a three-day remand order against a man suspected of being a human trafficking agent, to assist with its investigation into a bribery case.

Magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi granted the remand order which ends on Sunday.

It was issued under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The 25-year-old suspect, clad in an MACC orange T-shirt, arrived at the court around 9.30am.

It was reported that MACC had arrested a man for allegedly offering RM50,000 bribe to a policeman in December.

The suspect was detained at the state MACC office at about 3.30pm yesterday.

The money was intended as an inducement for the release of three individuals who had been detained in Jalan Sri Cemerlang for their involvement in human trafficking.
