Police checking if misunderstanding, drug use involved in teen's death

SHAH ALAM: SHAH ALAM: Police are investigating if there were elements of misunderstanding and drug use behind the death of the 15-year-old girl whose body was found in a river in Banting recently.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said they were awaiting toxicology reports and post-mortem results to establish the motive in the case.

He said that urine tests conducted on the three suspects, including the victim's boyfriend, returned negative for drugs.

"The police are still waiting for the toxicology results to ascertain whether the victim had consumed any drugs.

"Until we receive the results (toxicology and post-mortem), we cannot confirm drug use or overdose," he said during a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters.

Hussein added that the decomposed state of the victim's body made it challenging for pathologists to identify physical injuries.

However, he stated that the victim's boyfriend was suspected to be involved in disposing of her body.

"Whether others assisted in disposing of the body or not is still under investigation," he said.

Yesterday, it was reported that girl's body was found in a river in Banting, Selangor, on Saturday.

The victim failed to return home after attending a lion dance practice at a basketball court in Batu 11, Cheras on Dec 19.

Police later arrested the victim's boyfriend, his 20-year-old brother and their 51-year-old father.
