DUKE-Jalan Tun Razak link opened in time for Ramadan

KUALA LUMPUR: The Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) Phase 2 which links to Jalan Tun Razak has been opened to alleviate traffic during the month of Ramadan.

The route will lead traffic from Jalan Tun Razak (from East to West) towards Jalan Duta and the Karak Highway at the Sentul Pasar interchange.

Works minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, who visited the site today, said the diversion will lessen traffic congestion by 40 per cent, and will help keep traffic from Jalan Pahang smooth by connecting Jalan Tun Razak to the existing DUKE highway.

"After a thorough road review of the route, it was decided that we would open the road to ease traffic during the fasting month," said Fadillah.

He added that the route will also provide an alternative for road users of Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Pahang to continue to the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway from DUKE.

Road improvement and resurfacing of the Jalan Pahang route is being conducted by concessionaire Konsortium Lebuhraya Utara-Timur (KL) Sdn Bhd (KESTURI) to help traffic diversions.

Malaysian Highway Authority director general Datuk Ir. Ismail Md Salleh, Ekovest and KESTURI managing director Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng and Employees Provident Fund (EPF) head of capital department Mohamad Hafiz Kassim accompanied Fadillah during a visit to the site.
