SRI AMAN: The case of a Form One student, who was hospitalised after consuming poisoned ‘mee goreng’, has taken on a surprise twist.
It is now claimed that the boy who had laced his classmate’s noodles with roach poison, had previously been bullied by the latter, and that the poisoning was a form of revenge.
This was the claim made by the suspect’s grandfather, who lodged a police report on the matter. The suspect has since been arrested by police.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said the police report was lodged at the Sri Aman police station about 5pm.
“The man stated in the report that his grandson had been bullied by his classmate (who was admitted to hospital for consuming the poisoned noodles).
“The man claimed the victim had been extorting money and food from his grandson on daily a basis.
“We are investigating this report in connection with the food poisoning case,” said Dev.
It was earlier reported today that the victim, 13, was hospitalised after consuming mee goreng laced with roach poison on Thursday.
Acting on a police report lodged by the victim’s father, police brought in the suspect for questioning.
The case is being investigated under Section 328 of the Penal Code for causing hurt by means of poison.
