KUALA TERENGGANU: Netizens who posted two videos showing a violent thunderstorm, acting like a cyclone ripping the roof of large petrochemical holding tanks, have sparked unnecessary panic among the public.
The incident was said to have occurred in Kertih in the late evening, with the video showing debris being sucked up by what appeared to be a cyclone.
Checks at the Kertih and Paka police stations showed no report on such incidents had been lodged. Police however said they were aware of the video that has since gone viral.
However, police said that it was common for road users, especially outsiders, to get excited but such incidents they said are quite common during strong winds.
"With the flare pit in the background, the video looked quite dramatic. But so far we have had no reports on the incident," said a policeman at the station.
