KUALA LUMPUR: The country's leading chief executives took time off last night to rock it out and raise funds to help children in rural and underprivileged communities.
Known as PINTAR Rockin’ CEOs 2017, the fundraising event was also held to raise fund for the PINTAR Foundation’s expansion to Sabah and Sarawak.
Four bands from leading Malaysian companies took part in the Rockin’ CEOs segment that started at 9.20pm.
Media Prima Group was represented by D’Kechewa’s, led by Media Prima Bhd (MPB) group managing director Datuk Kamal Khalid, who played the drums.
Primeworks Studio chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Izham Omar was on the keyboard, MPB general manager (group finance) Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin, the vocalist and New Straits Times group editor Datuk Yushaimi Yahaya was on bass.
Playing the guitars were Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Johan Ishak and Primeworks Studios group general manager Azhar Borhan.
The band played a medley of songs such as The Beatles’ 'I Saw Her Standing There' and Mustang Sally and Stevie Wonder’s 'Superstition'.
Other bands playing at the event were CEO Master band led by Pemandu chief executive officer Datuk Seri Idris Jala, Maystripes Band led by Maybank Group president and chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Farid Alias and an all-female band, the Lady Boss Band, led by RITE Education director Elmarie Potgieter.
Closing the event was a stellar performance by Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, who is also a PINTAR’s trustee.
Pintar Foundation chairman said Tan Sri Arshad Ayub said the foundation was thankful by the participation of the corporate figures at the event.
“This event has presented a rare opportunity for us to witness these prominent corporate leaders step out from their roles to perform live to raise funds for the foundation,” he said.
The event was hosted by Fly.fm presenters Hafiz and Guibo. Media Prima Bhd is the media partner. Sponsors were Brunsfield International Group, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd and Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd.
Also at the event were Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and his consort Raja Permaisuri Tuanku Zara Salim.
