Miss Tourism International 2017 finalists arrive in Langkawi

LANGKAWI: Fifty finalists of the Miss Tourism International 2017 has arrived in Langkawi island for an official three-day showcase visit.

The beauties were then taken on a tour to the Langkawi Paradise 3D Art Museum at Teluk Burau, this morning.

The group spent time taking photos inside the museum and enjoyed a different view of Langkawi and also various other sites of the world in 3D (dimensional) paintings.

Panorama Langkawi Sdn Bhd deputy chief operating officer Abu Hashim Abd Rahman who welcomed the finalists said they had earlier planned to take the finalists up to Gunung Mat Chinchang for a photo shoot on the suspended bridge.

However, due to strong winds and bad weather conditions, they opted for a tour at the museum.

“The finalists took several photographs while looking at the paintings which they can share with their families and friends back home. This in a way will promote the island and the museum to international tourists,” he said.

Also present during the visit were Langkawi Development Authority manager Nor Aznan Sulaiman and Langkawi Tourism Association chief executive officer Zainudin Kadir.

One of the participants, Mona Lindgaard, 22, from Denmark said she was impressed with the various 3D paintings displayed at the museum.

“The paintings were beautiful and captivating. I will show it to my family when I return to Denmark,” she said.

She said the biggest painting was the Egypt Civilisation and the finalists enjoyed photographing themselves in front of the painting.

Romanian finalist Anna Maria Serban, 22, said the painting of the Roman Empire and a waterfall were also captivating and she will treasure the visit and experience.

“Although the painting was from the painter’s imagination but it made me feel like I was at the actual place,” she said.

The Miss Tourism International 2017 will be held at Sunway Resort, Petaling Jaya on Dec 31 this year.
