PUTRAJAYA: Pas Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi represented his father party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who could not attend the Solidarity Rally to Save Jerusalem today.
Hadi was slotted to attend the giant rally alongside Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, and the event was anticipated by many to be his third major appearance with the latter to champion humanitarian and Islamic cause.
But the absence of Hadi, who is also the International Union of Muslim Scholars vice-president, did not dampen the crowd’s mood.
Khalil also proceeded to deliver a speech on behalf of his father.
When met later, Khalil denied that his father was unwell but said he would attend future events on Jerusalem.
“This will not be the last rally, as more will be held after today. I believe my father will remain committed to such events and agenda.
“God-willing, he will attend other programmes in the future. I believe there will more of such events .”
Hadi had previously joined Najib in a forum organised by alumni of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University in 2015 and in another gathering to highlight plights of the Rohingya last year.
