MISC to cooperate with MACC in US$27.8 mil graft case

KUALA LUMPUR: MISC Bhd will give its full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in its investigation over allegations of graft and abuse of power involving US$27.8 million (RM108.5 million).

On Monday, it was reported that several MISC officers were colluding with third-party contractors in submitting false claims for the maintenance of several of the company’s vessels.

The fake claims were made between 2010 and 2013.

In a press statement, MISC said it has a zero-tolerance policy against any form of bribery or corruption by its employees, subsidiaries or anyone acting on its behalf.

“MISC is fully committed to the highest standards of integrity and accountability throughout our business operations.

“The company adheres to the MISC Group code of conduct and business ethics as well as its anti-bribery and corruption policy and guidelines,” the statement read.

Last Wednesday, MACC raided offices of MISC in Kuala Lumpur and Johor.

It was also reported that MACC has recorded statements of 12 people.
