IPOH: Two motorcyclists were killed and a pillion rider injured after colliding with a car in an accident at Jalan Bercham at 4.20 am today.
The car driver who was involved in the accident escaped unhurt.
The two victims, M Gogilan, 24, from Taman Rima Gamelan and A Agilan, 19, from Kota Baru Putra, died at the scene from serious body injuries.
"Both victims were killed at the scene of the accident, while the pillion rider who was on Gogilan's motorbike was injured and sent to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) for treatment."
Ipoh district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Ali Tamby, said initial investigation showed that the incident happened when the 39-year old male motorist coming from the direction of the Bercham Police Station towards the North Bercham Cruise tried to avoid the motorcycles of both victims which suddenly entered the opposite lane.
"While the motorist was trying to avoid Gogilan's motorcycle which had entered the opposite lane, he crashed into Agilan's motorcycle.
He said investigations were still ongoing under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
