8-year-old boy killed in Miri crocodile attack

MIRI: A boy drowned after being attacked and pulled underwater by a crocodile at a river along Jalan Mulia 5C, Tudan here yesterday.

Mohd Fairus Muhamad Dais, 8, was swimming in the river with four friends when the incident occurred at around 4.30pm.

"One of the friends (said they were) in the river when (Fairus) was suddenly pulled underwater," Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station chief Terry Robson Forante Nyangau said.

Fairus’s body was found with bite marks to the right leg at 6.45pm, not far from where he was last seen.

Miri police chief Assistant Commissioner Lim Meng Seah said the boy’s remains were sent to the Miri Hospital for a post-mortem. – BERNAMA
