BATU GAJAH: Sultan Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, graced the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Yussuf 2018 Excellence Awards on Saturday.
The sultan, who was accompanied by Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, was greeted upon arrival with kompang and gamelan music, followed by a choir and brass band performance by the students, at the school’s Dewan Sultan Yussuf.
Present were Perak Education, Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, Datuk Dr Muhammad Amin Zakaria and State Secretary, Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan. Also in attendance were Perak Education Director, Datuk Mat Lazim Idris and SMK Sultan Yussuf principal, Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar.
Sultan Nazrin presented prizes to 129 high-scoring students, including 34 former Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates, 24 Form 3 Assessment (PT3) candidates and 41 students who obtained excellent results in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM).
Sultan Nazrin also presented the Royal Award, Sultan Azlan Shah Gold Trophy to Mohamad Firdaus Mohamed Yusuf, as well as five student icons for their achievements in the field of leadership, co-curriculum and curricular activities.
