DAP's Balakong rep Eddie Ng killed in car crash

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP's Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee was killed in an accident near Cheras early today.

Ng was driving a Nissan X-Trail when the vehicle rammed into the rear of a lorry at about 12.40am.

The accident happened at KM11.7 of the Grand Saga Highway.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said Ng died at the scene.

Ng, 40, was believed to have been on his way home after attending a dinner.

A police source said they have yet to determine if the crash happened because Ng lost control of his vehicle.

His remains were sent to the Kajang Hospital for post-mortem.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari in a Twitter message sent his condolences to Ng's family.

"I received sad news that Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee died in an accident. My condolences to his family. I feel their sadness and am shocked to receive the news of his passing," Amirudin tweeted.

Ng who was consistently updating his Facebook page last shared a posting at 9 last night of his assistants Marcus Sim and Wilson Chang attending a meeting with the manager of Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency's service centre to discuss traffic congestion along Jalan Alam Damai.

Earlier yesterday Ng shared photos of him visiting a drainage upgrading project in Taman Seri Timah.

In the post he had said he was visiting the project to ensure government projects were carried out according to the specifications set.

"Government money must be spent with integrity," he wrote.
