Man burns to death in MPV crash near Parliament building

KUALA LUMPUR: A man was burnt to death when the vehicle he was driving skidded, crashed into a guardrail and burst into flames along the Sultan Iskandar Highway near the Parliament building here, this morning.

The man’s charred remains were discovered in the Nissan Grand Livina multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) following the accident at about 3am. His identity is still being ascertained.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said they received a distress call at 3.54am and deployed two engines from the Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station with nine personnel to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found the victim’s car ablaze, and the firemen took several minutes to douse it.

“The firemen then took several minutes to extricate the victim’s body, which was stuck in the driver’s seat. The remains were 90 per cent charred,” he said.
