GEORGE TOWN: A Swedish man who was on holiday here died today after experiencing shortness of breath.
The deceased, who has been identified as Alex Anders Bjakvall, 72, died while being rushed to the Penang Hospital this morning.
Bjakvall and his wife had checked into a hotel here on Friday and were scheduled to depart on March 29.
But this morning, the deceased complained to his wife about having breathing problems.
“His wife had sought the hotel’s assistance to call an ambulance to take him to hospital.
“When he was brought down from his room, he was… lifeless,” said Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Che Zaimani Che Awang.
He said that a post-mortem, which was conducted this afternoon, found that Bjakvall died from “pulmonary embolism” and “coronary atherosclerosis.”
“There was no criminal element involved in the death,” Che Zaimani added.
