KUALA LUMPUR: Police will use the lie detector test on seven main witnesses to assist in the investigation into the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said his team had identified the seven witnesses who were believed to be present at the scene during the incident.
“Based on the video recording taken during the incident, we have identified seven main witnesses who were believed to be at the scene.
"At the same time, we are also identifying several other individuals.
“We will also seek Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) assistance to use the machine to ascertain if the witnesses are telling the truth,” he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman here.
Huzir said a total of 30 witnesses have had their statements recorded at the inquest.
"28 of the witnesses have had their statements recorded before this, while two pathologists from Kuala Lumpur Hospital have had their statements taken at the Bukit Aman today.
“We will also be recording the statements from UiTM Mechanical Engineering Faculty senior lecturer Dr Amir Radzi Ab Ghani and Professor Dr Shahrom Abdul Wahid, a retired pathologist from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital (HUKM), soon,” he said.
On Sept 27, following a 41-day inquest to determine the cause of Muhammad Adib's death, coroner Rofiah Mohamad ruled that the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim was a result of a criminal act by more than two people.
Coroner Rofiah Mohamad said the blunt chest trauma on Adib, 24, was not self-inflicted or an accident but a criminal act by two or more unidentified people.
