Death toll in Sg Buloh crash rises to 5; 4 generations of family wiped out

KUALA LUMPUR: A man who was gravely injured in a two-vehicle collision on the North-South Expressway (NSE) on Friday – in which four female members of his family perished – died on Saturday.

Mohamad Taslim Jamsari Mohamad, 31, died while undergoing treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit at 1.46pm, Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Shafa’aton Abu Bakar told Bernama.

The other deceased are Mohamad Taslim’s wife, Ain Fazira Mohd Yazid, 25; his daughter, Nur Tiara Arisha, 9 months; his mother Ruzi Osman, 54; and his grandmother, Asiah Mat, 74.

Muhammad was driving his Proton Satria when it suffered engine trouble, forcing him to stop by the roadside at Km448 of the NSE near Sungai Buloh, at around midnight.

The driver of a Mitsubishi ASX, which had been travelling behind the Satria, failed to notice the stalled sedan and rammed into its rear.

The impact caused the Satria to spin violently and fling out several of its passengers.

Asiah and Ain Fazira died at the scene, while Ruzi and the baby died while being treated at the Sungai Buloh Hospital.
