Media Prima distributes donations to hospitals

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Berhad, via the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund (MPNHF), has begun distributing donations to several hospitals in the Klang Valley.

The monies – collected through the media stable’s fundraising campaign, Bantuan Kemanusiaan Covid-19, launched on March 23 – have facilitated the procurement of essential medical equipment and supplies for Shah Alam Hospital, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, and Sungai Buloh Hospital.

This first phase of the disbursement of public donations involved the purchase and delivery of two ventilator machines for Shah Alam Hospital; the supply of materials for do-it-yourself (DIY) face-shields for frontliners at Kuala Lumpur Hospital; and the supply of food for frontliners and medical personnel at Sungai Buloh and Kuala Lumpur Hospitals.

The first ventilator was delivered to Shah Alam Hospital yesterday, with the second ventilator expected to be delivered next week.

The purchase of the two ventilators was made possible through Medik-Link Sales and Services Sdn Bhd – a registered supplier for the hospital – which will install and commission them according to required specifications.

As for the face-shields, the materials were delivered by Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Lumpur Hospital on March 25.

The consignment was for the DIY of 2,000 pieces of disposable face-shields urgently required for the protection of their frontliners.

On the supply of food for frontliners at both Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Sungai Buloh Hospital, it will be done in three phases, from yesterday until next week.

The supply of food and DIY materials for face-shields to both hospitals was handled by Media Prima’s registered supplier Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, Media Prima Group chairman Datuk Syed Hussian Aljunid said timely disbursement of public donations to the hospitals is crucial.

“We must ensure that the frontliners get the assistance they need when it is most needed. We would like to thank the public for their generosity and compassion by donating to this campaign.

“We would also like to thank our suppliers, Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur and Medik-Link Sales and Services for their support.

“The Covid-19 crisis has affected the lives of so many Malaysians and we must rally together with compassion in combating this outbreak.

“We urgently appeal for public support and donations to the fund. We will continue to engage more hospitals nationwide to identify their urgent and critical needs,” he said.

He added that donations received will go towards the purchase of critical medical equipment and other necessities to aid the recovery of patients affected by the outbreak.

“The funds will also be used to help frontliners carry out their duties,” Syed Hussian said.

Members of the public can contribute to the fund by cheque, via online banking or depositing directly to the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund (MAYBANK: 5141-0532-3170).

Donors can e-mail their bank transaction slip and state Covid-19 to communications@mediaprima.com.my for their contribution receipt.

Those who wish to donate can also send cheques made payable to the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund by writing “Covid-19” on the reverse side of the cheque.

Address the cheque to the Communications Department Corporate Group, Media Prima Berhad, 3rd Floor, Anjung Liku, Balai Berita, 31, Jalan Riong, 59100, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

Since its launch in 1991, the fund has provided assistance to those in need of medical, disaster and economic assistance.
