NUJM, international delegates tour Media Prima studios and newsrooms

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Union of Journalists Malaysia (NUJM) and its international visiting delegates today toured Media Prima's News and Current Affairs Division facilities in Balai Berita, Jalan Riong, Bangsar.

The delegation, which included representatives from South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia, was welcomed at Balai Berita by Media Prima News and Current Affairs Division Group Managing Editor Jasbant Singh and Deputy Group Managing Editor Farrah Naz Abd Karim.

The visit began with a briefing on Media Prima Bhd's overall operations, followed by a tour of Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) studios.

There, the delegates had the opportunity to observe television news production firsthand.

They were also introduced to the print news operations of the New Straits Times Press (NSTP), which comprises the New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro, giving them a glimpse into the workings of Malaysia's most prominent newspapers.

NUJM president Farah Marshita Abdul Patah said the visit further strengthened the bond between Malaysian media and international delegates, providing foreign representatives with an invaluable insight into how the Malaysian media operates.

She said the visit also underscored NUJM's commitment to supporting journalists and fostering a resilient media industry in Malaysia amid global challenges.

"The visit allowed us to exchange ideas on how the international media landscape operates, offering different perspectives that can help us navigate local challenges.

"We are also exploring the possibilities of an exchange programme which would enable our journalists to gain broader perspectives and experiences by working alongside their international counterparts," she said.
