IPOH: A state executive councillor (exco) who is under investigation for defying the movement control order (MCO) after pictures of him having a meal at a gathering in Lenggong were spread on social media, will carry on with his duties as usual.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said Razman Zakaria’s role as an exco member will not be affected pending the outcome of police investigations.
"Let's wait for the police to investigate the matter.
"For now, we need to focus on the problems that we are facing, and will be facing due to Covid-19. We need to find ways to reboot our economy and this should be given serious attention," he said.
Ahmad Faizal said this after visiting 77 homeless individuals who were taking shelter at a transit centre at a Badminton Arena in Jalan Kompleks Sukan here.
On Sunday, Razman who is in charge of the education, human capital, non-governmental organisation (NGO) and civil society portfolio, had his statement taken at the Bagan Serai district police station for defying the MCO.
Razman has so far also apologised to Malaysians after pictures of him having a meal at a gathering in Lenggong went viral on social media.
The Gunung Semanggol assemblyman and Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali were seen in viral pictures enjoying a meal with about 30 others, including students, at a tahfiz.
The photos, which were first posted on Noor Azmi's Facebook account, were later deleted after many started questioning if they had breached the MCO.
Razman posted on his Facebook account that they were served "kampung" dishes during the event.
Photos showed there were between 20 to 30 seated together on the floor eating.
