KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has identified a new Covid-19 cluster involving security guards and safety officers at a mall in Cheras.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cluster recorded 10 positive cases as at noon today (May 7).
Dr Noor Hisham said 436 people have been screened, of which 10 are positive, 347 are negative and 79 are still pending.
"The Cheras and Titiwangsa District Health Office (PKD) will continue to monitor the increase in the cluster.
"The new cluster identified nine Nepalese and one Malaysian who were tested positive for Covid-19.
"The cause of infection is still under investigation. All of the Nepalese citizens in this cluster live in the same residence in Cheras," he said during a live telecast in Putrajaya.
Dr Noor Hisham said further precautions were taken such as identifying and conducting screening on all security employees and employers found to be close contacts as well as other residents of the same house.
"All close contacts of each case were called for screening and were provided with health education," he said.
