2,348 Covid-19 positive cases from tabligh cluster identified so far

PUTRAJAYA: Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 30,511 samples had been taken from the Sri Petaling Tabligh gathering and a total of 2,348 positive Covid-19 cases involving five generations had been identified.

He said from the five generations, two more positive Covid-19 cases had been reported as of yesterday.

As for Covid-19 screening tests at 371 Tahfiz and Madrasah schools, he said a total of 18,728 individuals involving students, teachers and staff had been identified and samples taken from 11,546 of them.

The total positive cases from this were 445 cases or 3.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, 33,386 individuals had been identified from the screening activity at 212 markets.

A total of 26,663 or 80 per cent of the individuals have been tested.

Out of this, 249 had tested positive.

As for returning Malaysians, he said 32,692 who returned from overseas between April 3 until May 13 had to undergo the mandatory quarantine.

Some 24,789 of them had completed their 14-days quarantine.

"The total number of positive Covid-19 cases from this group is 360 cases.

"Four new cases were also detected today, including three who returned from Pakistan and one from Indonesia," he said at the daily press conference here today.
